How Do I Upgrade the RESTful Engine?
This article describes how to quickly upgrade your RESTful engine to the latest version available from Windward Studios.
Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager then in the Connections navigation pane on the left expand Sites and select the RESTfulEngine site that is your RESTful engine install.
Stop the IIS service then open a File Explorer window to C:\inetpub\wwwroot and Rename the RESTfulEngine folder to something else like RESTfulEngineVersionNumber in this example I will rename my folder to RESTfulEngine220.127.116.11
Next download the latest RESTful engine from Windward Studios website.
Once the download completes unzip the RESTful engine files to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\RESTfulEngine
Then right click the RESTfulEngine folder and select Properties
When the RESTfulEngine Properties dialog opens Click the Edit button To change permissions
When the Permissions for RESTfulEngine dialog opens first Select the IIS_USRS user group then add Modify permissions and then click OK then click OK again on the RESTfulEngine Properties dialog from the step above.
Edit the web.config file to add your license key. It's located in the directory where you installed the Engine, i.e. C:\inetpub\wwwroot\RESTfulEngine.
If your previous install had any additional directories for templates or images or anything else just copy them to the new RESTfulEngine folder.
Now open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager then in the Connections navigation pane on the left expand Sites and select the RESTfulEngine site that is your RESTful engine install then Start the service.
To ensure the installation was successful, open a browser on the machine where you installed the Engine, and enter the URL "http://localhost:<port>/v2/version", where <port> is the port number you specified when creating the RESTful Engine website. You should see the version of your Engine, e.g.
