Using the Salesforce Integration App

Introduction

This article describes how to use the Salesforce Integration App.  In order to use this app, you need to setup a button within Salesforce to access the app.  There is a tutorial located here on how to do that.

The first screen you will be prompted with when opening the app is a Salesforce login page.  This application uses OAuth so thats what this first login page is about.  For this login, you will want to login using the credentials for the Salesforce datasource on the given templates you will run.  For instance, if I made a template that connected to a datasource with Username: tester@test.com and password: pass1234, those are the credentials I would enter on this Salesforce login page.

Generate Report with the Application

Now that we have logged into Salesforce, we are ready to specify our template and output it.  Here is the screen you should see once you login.

The first thing you might notice is the UniqueID parameter that is automatically populated when you enter the application.  This is the ID for the Opportunity, Account, Contact, etc from which you launched the application from.  If your template doesn't require the ID of the specified target then this will simply be ignored.

From here we can choose a template.  Clicking on the Choose File button will open a File Explorer for you to choose a template from.

After you choose a template, if that template contains Input Parameters, those Parameters will be auto-populated under the UniqueID Parameter so you don't need to memorize those.

After you have selected a template, you can choose you designated Output Format.  Currently DOCX, PDF and HTML are supported output formats for DOCX templates.

Finally, you will need to provide the name of the Salesforce datasource of the template, specified in the Windward Designer.  If you don't know this, you can open up the template, click on the Windward ribbon tab and open the Connection Editor.  Under the Active connections should be the datasource used by the template and you can get the name from there.

Finally, all you need to do is click Submit and after a couple seconds, your report will be downloaded through the browser for you to open and save wherever you would like.
